Announcement Update, February 7, 2017

Sunday we made a workshop planning visit to the new Wolf Connection home. Walking through the desert trails of sandy earth amidst rough stones, twisted trees, and friendly invisible energies of the land – we were accompanied by wolves running ahead and returning as we walked, standing by as we paused. Through it all we felt a deep silence, a connection to our own inner being.

It is this connection that Carlos Castaneda, and other seers felt in the high deserts of Southern California and Sonora, and that we will call on in our upcoming Shaman’s Retreat.

In this quest we are deeply inspired by the film Innsæi – The Power Of Intuition, created by Icelandic filmmakers Hrund Gunnsteinsdottir and Kristín Ólafsdóttir. Hrund had experienced burnout in her career as a United Nations fieldworker, result of years of setting aside her feelings and her intuition telling to her rest, reflect and integrate all her experiences before moving forward. Seeking answers, the two friends embark on a global quest, speaking to business leaders, authors, artists, educators, students and parents, with the questions: What is the role of intuition in our lives? How do we cultivate it? Among those they interview is West African elder and author Malidoma Patrice Somé, who says:

Nature is actually the silent witness of intuition. Nature speaks in all kinds of languages. Nature is interested in the inner eye, the inner ear, the inner capacity to make sense out of something which external consciousness might consider chaotic. Without nature, I don’t know how we can revive our intuition…

What we are experiencing has an answer deep inside our bones, subtle answers whispered by the inner ears, carried by our intuitive channels. Therefore I need to get inside myself to activate that intuition so that it can spell out that purpose for me.

Hrund finds a missing link to her own experience in the ancient Icelandic word for intuition– InnSaei, which carries multiple meanings:

Innsaei means the sea within. It means to see within. And innsaei means to see from the inside out. The sea within is the borderless nature of our inner world. It is constantly moving. It goes beyond words. It is a world of vision, feelings and imagination… To see within is to know yourself. To know yourself well enough to be able to put yourself into other people’s shoes and to bring out the best in you…To see from the inside out is to have a strong inner compass so you can navigate your way into our ever-changing world.

In this workshop, we will come together as a community to connect with each other, with the silent intuitive voice of nature—the knowing spirits of plants, rocks and wolves—and the infinite sea, sky, and landscape within. We will gather insight and direction for something we want to accomplish, whether that be a rekindling of New Year’s intentions, a life dream or purpose, and/or a current goal.

We look forward to sharing this journey within with you!

“How can I know who I am, when I am all this?”
he said, sweeping the surroundings with a gesture of his hand.

– Shaman-teacher don Juan Matus, to Carlos Castaneda

This inclusiveness is the awareness of the shaman. Our early ancestors kept this awareness close to heart. They viewed themselves as a member of the living world. They naturally communicated with trees, flowers, animals, fish, birds, and stones, and listened, spoke and lived by the wisdom of their interconnection with all of these spirits.

Today, our perception often narrows from what it once was. This workshop retreat is an opportunity to reconnect with the many possibilities of our sensing, feeling and being. We can then remember that we are all part of infinity, the source of everything, allowing us entry into the many worlds of perception inhabited by other beings, because of what we share with them.

We can hear our ancestors’ wisdom in the wind as it rustles the nearby leaves of trees and dances over the surface of stones, calling to what we already suspect – that a thin veil exists between what we currently know and the unknown mystery of it all.

Your own journey of reconnection, awaits you at this event at Wolf Connection’s new sanctuary and land. Once home to the Tongva tribe, the grounds carry a sacred energy and knowledge.

Join others to walk in the nearby hills, clear your being and find silence in the embrace of nature; to look up into the night sky to receive inspiration from the vastness of the stars, and take in the rich variety of desert life, to help find direction for your own.

Here you will:

Begin your journey in a sacred gathering of movements and practices to open you to the vastness of you…

Discover what your heart desires to learn, grow into and experience this lifetime…

Enter the womb of the earth in a traditional sweat lodge – to speak blessings, ask for visions, and return something to the land…

Partake in morning, noon and evening ceremony, embracing and celebrating your link with the natural elements surrounding you…

Bring questions to an ancestral teacher of humanity, The Wolf…

Receive and be witnessed by others in creating new steps of action to carry home this expanded state of being.

And more…
