"Il Cielo in una Stanza"

A live studio recording of "Il Cielo in una Stanza" or "The Sky in a Room," the song played at the recent Tensegrity workshop in Rimini, Italy.

Composed by Italian singer and songwriter Gino Paoli in 1959 and first sung by the Italian singer Mina.

This song was sung in the recent Tensegrity Workshop in Rimini, Italy: Que te Cuesta? Leadership and the Currency of Worth.

Carlos Castaneda said that these lyrics expressed transcending the self to work in harmonic collaboration with another, be it the energy body, or another being. Gino Paoli, the composer, said that his inspiration for creating this song was his belief that "love, at any moment, could overcome any barrier and border."

As he wrote, "When you are here near me, this purple ceiling, no, it doesn't exist anymore, I see the sky above us." As Carlos Castaneda said, if you lead with others, and with affection as your guide, the sky is the limit!

This song is performed by Lulla Amelu, vocals and classic guitar, Oreobambo, vocals, whistle and accordion, and Margaret Penn, marimba.

Special thanks also to Sven Van Tullen and Riccardo Colella for the sound engineering contributing to the live performances at the workshop.

And a special thanks to all the participants of this workshop for their enthusiastic singing, dancing and applauding as we shared this song!

The song is sung in Italian; translation into other languages are below.

Il Cielo in una Stanza (Italian)

Quando sei qui con me
Questa stanza non ha più pareti Ma alberi,
Alberi infiniti
Quando sei qui vicino a me
Questo soffitto viola
No, non esiste più.
Io vedo il cielo sopra noi
Che restiamo qui
Abbandonati
Come se non ci fosse più
Niente, più niente al mondo.
Suona un'armonica
Mi sembra un organo
Che vibra per te e per me
Su nell'immensità del cielo.
Per te, per me:
Nel cielo

The Sky in the Room (English)

When you are here with me
this room has no more walls
but trees
infinite trees.
When you are here near me
this purple ceiling,
no, it doesn't exist anymore.
I see the sky above us.
We stay here
abandoned
as though there were
nothing, nothing left in the world.
A harmonica is playing.
To me it seems like an organ
that vibrates for you and for me
up in the immensity of the sky.
For you, for me:
in the sky.

El Cielo en una Habitación (Spanish)

Cuando estás aquí conmigo
no hay mas paredes en este cuarto
sino árboles
infinitos árboles
cuando estas cerca de mi
este techo púrpura
no, no existe más.
Veo el cielo sobre nosotros
que estamos aquí
abandonados
como si no hubiera nada,
como si nada quedara en el mundo
Una harmónica está tocando
me parece un órgano
que vibra para ti y para mí
arriba, en la inmensidad del cielo.
Para ti y para mí:
en el cielo.

Der Himmel in einem Zimmer (German)

Wenn du hier bist, mit mir
hat dieser Raum keine Wände mehr
sondern Bäume
unendliche Bäume
wenn du hier, nah bei mir bist
ist diese fliederne Decke,
nein, nicht mehr da.
Ich sehe den Himmel über uns
die wir hier sind
verlassen
als ob es nichts mehr gäbe
nichts, nichts mehr auf der Welt.
Es erklingt eine Harmonika,
erscheint mir wie eine Orgel,
die vibriert, für dich und für mich
oben, in der Unendlichkeit des Himmels.
Für dich, für mich:
im Himmel
